How to Become a Freelance Technical Writer

 Powered by Max Banner Ads

When Melody and I started as freelancers twenty years ago, there weren’t any books available that told us how to form a technical writing business or how to market and sell our services. We each had to find this information ourselves by asking other freelancers and through trial and error.

The reason Melody and I decided to create this series is because we wanted to make the transition from employee to freelancer easier for you. We hope these posts will get you started on the road to success as an independent contractor.

Note: Before you even begin thinking about going out on your own, we recommend you have at least five or more years of experience. This will allow you to build up a portfolio and to develop marketable technical skills.
