Adobe RoboHelp 8 comes with a dozen or so “pods“, function panels, available through the View > Pods menu item:
Every selected pod changes the default panels and displays the selected functionality either on the LEFT sidebar, or at the BOTTOM of the screen.
For example, Project Manager is displayed on the left sidebar but if you select User Defined Variables it’s displayed at the bottom of your screen.
As usual, RoboHelp provides more than one way of performing many tasks.
For example, you can display SNIPPETS panel (for parking your most frequently used topic components) either by clicking the Snippet sub tab from inside the Project Manager panel, or select it directly from the main menu by selecting View > Pods > Snippet. “Same difference,” as they say.
