Many writing specialties today are becoming very competitive. It’s hard to break into many niches especially if you don’t have a track record.
That’s the bad news. And here’s the good news:
Writing case studies is still a field that’s relatively easy to enter since the demand far outweighs the supply.
All you need to do to write a case study is to answer the following 7 questions:
1) Who is the customer?
2) What problem did they have?
3) What solutions did they look at and ultimately reject?
4) Why did they choose your (or your client’s) product (or service) as the solution?
5) How did they install the product or implement the solution?
6) How is the customer using the product/service now?
7) What results have they achieved with it?
When you answer all these questions and write about 800 to 1,200 words, you’re done! You have a great case study that your client can use to drum up more business while educating the end users.
It doesn’t sound exactly like rocket science, does it? But if you specialize in it you can get paid like a “rocket scientist,” so to speak.
