How to Capture Screenshot of Expanded Drop-Down Menu Items with Snagit

PROBLEM: You’d like to capture a screenshot of your cascading drop-down menu items. But the minute you hit the capture button of your screen capture software, the drop-down menu disappears. To preserve the drop-down menu in its expanded form while launching the screen capture software seems to be impossible.

SOLUTION: Use Snagit’s CAPTURE WITH DELAY capture profile.

This option will sometimes be labeled a bit different, depending on the version of Snagit you are using. For example, here are two different versions of the same profile:

SNAGIT Delay Option 1SNAGIT Delay Option 2

Just get your page ready, the page from which you’d like to capture the drop-down menu. Click the “delay button” from Snagit’s main window.

A timer on the lower-right of your desktop will start to count down from 10 to zero. While the count down continues, click on the menu, select all appropriate options, and display the cascading multi-level menu.

When the count down reaches zero, Snag it will capture the cascading menu WITHOUT any background images, and INCLUDING your CURSOR, if you wish so:
