How to Display MS Word 2007 Ribbon When It Disappears

Word 2010© Ugur Akinci
It happens… sometimes when you’re in the midst of a project, your MS Word 2007 ribbon just disappears…
Not displaying your ribbon has its advantage: it increases your screen real-estate. You’d have more room to display your document.
But in terms of functionality and ease of use, it’s a nasty inconvenience. Each time you click on a ribbon tab the ribbon appears but the second you shift back to your document it vanishes again!
The remedy is simple. There are two ways to display your ribbon back on permanently:

Press Ctrl + F1

or

Double-Click on the ribbon tab you’d like to display

and your ribbon will stay put.
And you’re done.
Alternatively, do the above if you’d like your ribbon to disappear again 🙂

Thank you!!!! The ribbon disappearing when I went back to the document was driving me crazy. I blame it on my devil cat – he did something…

Thank you so much…..I have been working my way through the 603 page Word 2010 All-In-One for Dummies book and the only thing I could come up with was that I changed something in the File -> Options tab but couldn’t work out what – I think I spent about half an hour of frustration (& feeling dumber than a dummy!!!!!) going back through the book and options tab. Thank goodness for the help button and subsequent technical advice which had the problem fixed in less than a second!
